An African social network exists as an online community entity for the purpose of persons of Afro origin to connect. They are considered safe environments where people of like mind gather to share. The websites are growing in popularity and every year new ones are added to the numbers of available options.

The websites are not only attractive persons who reside in Africa but to black folks worldwide. It does not matter if they have been members of the Diaspora for generations or if they are new migrants abroad, they still gravitate to such socializing websites. This illustrates a fundamental unity that bonds the peoples together regardless of their histories.

In a similar way to sites like Face Book or My Space, the varieties for Afro people have the core purpose of enabling people to showcase themselves online and connect with others who like to do the same thing. Members maintain a webpage of their own within the sites and use it to host their photographs and videos which they share with their friends. They also are able to cultivate connections which can run into the hundreds and a form networks of thousands even millions.
