Romantic Date Ideas

By Jessie Buswell

When it comes to long-term relationships, everybody seems to know that over time, the spark just starts to fade. However, this doesn't necessarily have to be the case. As a matter of fact, there are plenty of things that couples can do to keep that flame burning bright and hot. Keeping date nights romantic is one of the most important, so I am here to provide you with some romantic date ideas to help spice up the old "dinner and a movie" blues.

To begin with, remember that eating dinner isn't only a date if you go out. Dinner at home can be as much or more romantic than going out. Try to make a homemade pizza, or attempt to cook something new for both of you. But whatever you do, plan a meal that involves both of you being in the kitchen, making your delicious dinner-for-two a joint effort. Also, don't forget to take a few minutes to light some candles. A little bit of fire goes a long way.

To really turn up the heat, do something classically romantic, like taking a day outing to a vineyard for a wine tasting, or find a seaside or lake boat trip and spend the day and evening cruising around on the water and watching the sunset. Not much in the world beats a beautiful evening sunset with the person that you adore most.

It might sound ridiculous but the truth is that brains are sexy! So consider an edu-date, and opt into signing up for a class with your partner. Anything from language classes (after all who doesn't want their partner to speak Italian to them!), to cooking classes to dancing lesson (salsa, anyone?), even to gun safety and shooting classes (I bet he'd love to see you handle a gun!). This will both expand your knowledge, and you can take what you've learned home with you, perhaps in more ways than one.

For a playful evening or day date, pack a picnic and take it to the local park, playground, or amusement park. Spend the day enjoying each other's company and laughing. This will help you rediscover what it was like in the beginning of your relationship. After all, taking time to laugh together is one of the most romantic things you can do with your partner.

For a really romantic time, do what we all dream about... take a whole day off and go to the spa together. Treat yourselves to a couples massage and any other spa goodies; and for the REAL icing on the cake, consider booking a room at a nice, local hotel for the evening and preset it with a bottle of champagne and some chocolate covered strawberries. It doesn't get much more romantic than that!
