When you visit places of worship, there are many things that you will be able to find. One of the most noticeable items would be worship banners. These objects are normally seen on the altar or seen being used during praising. These flags are usually colorful and are a joy to look at especially when being waved while people are chanting and singing their praises to the Lord.

These banners have different looks. Each banner differs in color, size, shape, and pattern. These flags are normally made from handmade silk. Some of these flags can also be designed using a logo or a symbol. Common symbols used are the lion, cross, dove, and grapes. There are also some flags that were printed with a single word or a phrase to make it more meaningful.

A banner is not something that is placed inside a room for decorative purposes. Just like the flags that have been used throughout history, the banner serve different types of purposes. The banner used for worshipping has always had a significant role in all kinds of religious activities.

One of the most important roles a banner has would be to honor God. When it is being raised, you are actually honoring God and His glory. It is also your way of declaring your belief and faith. This is similar to what flag bearers from a long time ago do every time a King or Queen is going to enter a room or building.

During praise and worships, it is common to see someone that will be the one to wave the banner. The reason for this is that waving the banner helps symbolizes the worshipper's allegiance to God. The rhythmic waves made helps to intensify the praises that everyone is doing so that they may please God.

During ancient wars, there is always a banner that will act as something that guides people to gather together. This is used in order to unite all of the people fighting for a common cause. These days, a banner still acts to unify worshippers even though they are not at war. It symbolizes that every person gathered are there for one reason.

Even though many places have become civilized and are no longer at war to gain territory, having a banner inside a church or the places used for praising signifies territory. It signifies that the place is being claimed by God. It is a symbol that would tell the enemy that the place is protected by God.

Banners are also useful for heralding occasions. There are special flags that are brought out whenever there is special occasion held by the church. People place them in places where many people can see them. This is very effective in announcing to everyone that something great is being celebrated.

Worship banners are common in places where people gather to praise God. There are still so many uses that a banner has. Knowing its significance, one should appreciate its presence the next time he will see one.
