Divorce is usually the result of a failed marriage and such event has to be documented for it to be used in legal transactions. Texas divorce records are one of the many types of documents that have been made open to the general public. This was done after the Freedom of Information Act has been implemented by the state.

The Vital Records section of a given state is usually the place that one can get a copy of their public documents, however, in Texas; such office does not release a certified copy of the file. One has to go to the county clerk office at the county where the divorce was granted in order to get a copy of the divorce certificate. If going to any office is not really possible, one can do an online search.

One can choose from a free search for a fee based search. A free search however, may not be able to provide an accurate result and in most cases the information may be lacking. This is the reason why many would go for the paid search because of the complete and reliable results that one can be obtained from it.
