Date Advice and First Date Jitters
You're getting ready for a first date and are beginning to get nervous, well don't be. It is after all just a first date and think of it only as that. Some people jump the gun and make themselves nervous by thinking will this be the person I'm going to marry one day and be in a serious relationship with? Be yourself and everything should be fine. Below are some guidelines for a first date:
1. Don't think of the date as if you are being interviewed, as if you're the only person in the hot seat. You're not the only person in the hot seat! You get to do some interviewing to see if this person has potential enough for you to even want to go on another date with them.
2. It's only the first date, so don't think that you have to pull out all the stops and hit every luxurious place in town. Choose one calming place where you can let loose, but not too loose! Just be you. You want to be in a place where you can focus on one another and get to know that person. Have your date find a nice place if it is too hard for you.
3. People are open to a lot of different date venues. Judging from a new info graphic from dating site HowAboutWe.com, Americans are open to a wide variety of dating activities. If you feel like eating frozen yogurt, seeing an art exhibit, going bowling or drinking a glass of wine, chances are that your date will be into it too.
4. You don't have much to lose. You don't know the person well yet, so you probably aren't all that invested in them romantically. No matter how badly it goes, you'll get over it fairly quickly. That's the true beauty of a first date.
5. Your date is not an all-day extravaganza, so keep it roughly around an hour or so. That is enough time to know one another and leave a decent impression.
6. Your date has gone bad in all the ways you would have never expected, but don't worry this is just a first date and now a new guideline for you not to follow for future dates. It is also a great story to tell your friends. Just laugh about it!
7. This is the first date which means you will have many things to talk about and share with your date. The conversation will definitely not be limited at all.
